Foundation Year 2
"I chose MTW mainly because of the opportunities to work within A&E and Haematology. MTW has excellent Education Centres and really good training support"
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust. We provide a full range of general hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the south of west Kent and parts of north east Sussex. We operate from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital. Here significant investment has also been made to provide a new Cellular Pathology Centre, stroke unit, refurbished intensive care unit, state of the art CT and MRI scanners, hi-tech operating theatre and surgical training centre and a new birth centre.
Maidstone Hospital is also home to the Kent Oncology Centre, one of the leading cancer treatment centres in the southeast. The cancer centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex, and was among the first nationally to benefit from a £4.7 million new treatment system that targets and treats tumours with pinpoint accuracy.
We are at the forefront of developments in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery in the NHS and are increasing the range of other highly specialised services available locally to patients, including centres of expertise in trauma (emergency surgery), maternity, paediatrics (children’s inpatient care) orthopaedics and planned complex surgery.
All of this, together with our newly created centres of expertise make this an exciting time to be part of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
